Absolutely not. No experience required. Students learn everything from the ground up. The only requirement is curiosity and a willingness to create.
The WV HOPE Scholarship is a state-funded education savings account. Beginning in 2026–2027, eligibility expands — though residency, age, application, and other requirements still apply. WV HOPE Scholarship funds may be applied toward PMP's $6,500 tuition for eligible families. Apply at wvhope.wv.gov.
Yes — and that's the foundation. PMP Film Academy teaches full K–12 core academics including ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies through the Dawson Production Method. Students receive structured academic instruction first, then apply what they've learned through real projects. The curriculum is designed to align with WV academic standards, and production is the vehicle for learning — not a substitute for it.
Select student productions may be showcased at Marquee Cinemas in Beckley, WV and submitted to film festivals. Qualifying projects may earn students verified IMDb production credits — real experience that follows them into their future careers.
The Dawson Production Method is PMP Film Academy's project-based instructional model where students first learn core academic skills through structured lessons, then apply those skills through hands-on production work, collaboration, problem-solving, and creative projects. This method helps students move beyond memorization by using what they learn in real, meaningful ways.
